Economy of Lamu County

Lamu County boasts rich Swahili architecture which has brought the world to its doorstep and is among the regions star attractions. It’s preservation has been taken a notch higher by the United Nations decision to declare the region a World Heritage Site. The regions waterfront is a busy port. Plans are underway to set up Kenya’s  second port at Lamu.

The county with its rich heritage and unique architecture is a famed tourist destination and is haven for private villa enthusiasts. A number of Hotels have been established in Lamu.
