This investment guide highlights investment
policies, incentives and opportunities that Kenya offers.
My government recognises that investment is crucial in fulfilling
the vision of "a working nation”.
The Kenya government is taking various steps to create an
enabling environment in order to encourage both foreign and
domestic investment in line with economic recovery strategy
paper, which is focused on the promises contained in the National
Rainbow Coalition (the ruling party) manifesto. It is based
on twin concepts;- democracy and empowerment.
Democracy shall be nurtured by upholding the rule of law,
promoting a sense of inclusiveness in government policy and
decisions and enhanced national security. This will serve
to create an enabling environment for doing business in Kenya.
The second principle, is the empowerment of the people. Poverty
leaves people vulnerable to political manipulation accepting
policies and practices injurious to their long-term interests.
Economic empowerment makes them responsible for their destiny.
In addition to the market growth the above measures will
create market access to Kenyan products is enhanced by the
provisions of trade agreements and blocks such as the East
African community(EAC), the Common Markets for Eastern and
Southern Africa (COMESA) , the Contonou agreement with the
European Union and the African Growth and Opportunities act.(AGOA).
Finally, considering that a peaceful transition in 2002 demonstrated
Kenya’s stability and political maturity and the fact that
many organisations and governments have based their regional
headquarters. I would therefore like to extend a warm invitation
to all Investors to participate in Kenya’s path to economic
prosperity and to make Kenya the Gateway to Africa.
